The Beginning

Well, i like so much English, like my blog's name says hahahaha. I think that it's important, for my studies, my future work, or any job. You never know when need to speak a different language, and English is very common.
For example, i was working last weekend on Pulp's show, on the stage mouving instruments and all the technic stuff. And the tour's mannager not just speak only in english, they also talk to you as you could "think" very fast in english. So i must be clever and wake up to understand any indication, because if i wasn't probably the England's fury could attack me hahaaha.

I thought in the begin of this subjet, that was VERY scholar. The clasic model of disciplinary reproduction. But with time i understood, that the space in the class is different. Actually now i think that pedagogical technics are right. It's better talk with classmates, people that sometimes you don't know, so you need to speak, because "silence" with unknow people is uncomfortable. So you try better hahha.

About blogs, i think that are a "light" way to practise, but doesn't mean that are useless. Actually they are a space to work with english in different topics.

Well i would like to practice more. I like english, but my pronunciation is awful, but my spanish pronunciation is also bad hahaha. I'm bad modulating, but it's just training, i think haha.

The New Addictions

The DSM-V(the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of  Mental Disorders)   is the new edition of this world famous manual. And is interesting how there, appears a lot of new disorders. We can see two ways to approach in this situation, and both are not opposite: 1) Society is sicker than some years ago; 2)There is a progressive work to classified and convert in "pathology" spaces, activities, interests, that before weren't.
And in this second option, we could, also, think another two reason for this: 1) We discover new "illness" or 2) We "create" new psychopathologies. And a good example for this last option is a Chinese study where scientists work in a comparison between substance addiction people's brain and obsessive internet user's brain. And they found that there is a similar change in the brain for people addicted to substances like alcohol, cocaine or cannabis and in people with "internet addiction". The scientist used MRI scanners with a control group of sixteen normal subjects and an experimental group of seventeen Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) subjects.

However, it's interesting in this case, read behind these studies, because, we live into a particular economy model, and "illness" and pharmacology are two big industries. I mean, if this system ask for join to the new technologies, and all the social life, appears into a virtual social platform, is weird that now they star to believe that it could produce and addiction. And beside, they are thinking (APA), to include soon, sex and internet to the addiction disorders. And, ¿What is the solution?, ¿Pills?. I can't trust in an organization who is trying progressively all the social space in psychopatologies (For example the ideological behaviour against system). We should stay alert when these new categories appears.

"porque también somos lo que hemos perdido"

Amores Perros is an Iñárritu's film, and is not my favorite film, but represent a lot of strong feelings for me and a particular moment in my life. I saw it in my house 2 years ago, and i think that every Iñárritu's film talk about Angst, about the bitter changes of everything in life, a fracture that suddenly make that things fall into an abyss. This film is the first of  "death's trilogy" with Babel and 21 Gramos. Amorres Perros is a Drama film, starred by Gael García, Emilio Echevarría, Goya Toledo, etc. But this drama has strong scenes, violence, betray, marginality and despair. Apparently like a pulp fiction movie, but behind there are big concepts. In each film, Iñárritu write a sentence that summarize the film's concept. In this film he wrote porque también somos lo que hemos perdido. Maybe i like it so much because in this film i look into the abyss, i feel empathy with the characters, but, not in the american sense, when i write empathy i'm talking about feel with someone, in this movie i feel the vertigo of the tragedy. And i remember with this film a friend's brain accident, fortunately he's fine now, but he likes so much this movie and sometimes we talk about it, and his accident.

Usually people put a trailer to suggest a movie, today i'll give you a different thing, a song of the film's OST, that in my opinion, represent big part of the concept in this film.

In "nobody" we trust

Normally 60% of abstention could mean serious things, but i'm not sure this time about it.
First, i didn't vote, honestly, just because i'm lazy, but it doesn't mean that i don't care the municipalities. I can rationalize in my defense and say that in my municipality (La Granja) the winner was decide few months ago, actually my municipality had one of the bigger differences between the winner, and second after him (something like 75% of votes of the people were for the winner).
Delpin the new mayor, is (was) one of my father's old friend, because my father was an active member of DC long years ago. And i know, honestly and with responsibility  that the mayors just win for works that do with the biggest part in their communes, i mean, in the part of this where live the most of the people. Because in that way they guarantee the most of the votes, but the left one part without help. It's sounds obvious but it shouldn't be, if i know people who work in municipality or the mayor, i will have more profit that someone who never knew before, and it's not fair.
The same thing happens in all our political system, is a government for the "friends", for the "little things", for the "grants", the scholarships, for the subsidies, it's like a bribe that all of us accept.
I think that people didn't vote for two reason, and for these reason i will be a prejudice man:
1) People are lazy, you can't create a different "system" without work on the subject: without make "the social subject" possible.
2) People don't trust in the future promised by the political class, it doesn't matter who win, we lost ( at least that you know "someone" like i said before)

"socio: cómplice: infrarrealista hermanito nuestro"

Honestly, I dislike topics like “the greatest Chilean of all time", I remember a tv show about that topic. And also i remember a Nicanor Parra's poem:

"Los cuatro grandes poetas de Chile/
son tres:/
Alonso de Ercilla y Rubén Darío"

And it's funny because the strength of the poem is on the nationality of Ercilla and Darío, Spanish and Nicaraguan respectively. I'm not sure about who could be the greatest Chilean of all time, but I admire the work and life of Roberto Bolaño. And isn’t a coincidence that I write about that Parra’s poem, because Bolaño work with that poem talking about exile, literature, nationality and how a country fight to appropriate of a writer, poet or anything else.

Bolaño lived, almost, all his life in México or Spain, or simply out of Chile, but his work made possible the “novel” in Chile, because Chile is a poet’s country, but the novel here is a weak topic. He wrote about adolescence and exile, mainly set in México because he live his teen years there, but the teaching in his books, named a different exile first, because exile is leave a country, but also, leave a city, leave your house and most important leave your youth, burn the poems and start to write novels, there is and exile there. And in other hand the adolescence happens everywhere, because also the nationality is not a country for a writer, is his memories, and these are better hide.

He died in 2003, but anyway, if I could ask something, probably I would ask him about Mario Santiago, the Mexican poet, maybe his best friend, and he died in 1998, and Bolaño wrote many times about him. He appears in Los Detectives Salvajes, as Ulises Lima, and is probably one of his most interesting characters created. Because in real life he was one of the weirdest and greatest peoples that I never heard.

School Strikes Back

In our traditional education, there are hegemonic speeches. One of these, work hard with the "scores", the memory, the repetition and the state's ideological reproduction. And that ideology is deeply interested in the market, the comparison between students, the measurement of IQ or any disorder. But the problem is behind that speech, people don't learn alone, people learn with a partner, with classmates, that could know more or less than they.
I think that this activities works when people study before, are nice indicators of knowledge in a specific moment, but this activities doesn't work for the measurement of the "learned". The big work is on speaking class, but also, people need to answer with their will or good disposal.

Mighty Max

When i was six i knew my best friend until now, Cristian. He was my classmate when i started the school. Someday i had to do a homework in another classmate's house, and Cristian's houses was near to (Also, he still live there). So when i finished the homework, my father was to my classmate's house to pick me, and when we were leaving that house, Cristian appeared out, because he was playing on the street, and invited me to his house.
My father walked with me to his house. And there, my father stayed talking with Cristian's parents and i was to play with Cristian in his room. When i was there, i couldn't believe what i was seeing, he had TOO MANY toys. So i played for hours with differents toys, he showed to me every toy in his room. And finally when i was leaving the house, he asked me if i would like to be his friend. I thought that it was a weird and silly question, but i said yes, no problem. And he went to his room and came with a bag in his hands and he gave it to me. When i opened it, i saw a LOT of toys there, and one of them i'd never forgotten. It was and Mighty Max toy, i hadn't known those toys before that day, but the first time i saw it, it really liked me. There were two Mighty Max toys, one of them was a Mummy's face, full of other little toys inside, and was the same with the other, a Zombie's hand with little toys inside.
I know that this history sounds silly, but that was the begin of a nice friendship, and Cristian is now like my brother.

Exile

The only thing that i like about the Fiestas Patrias is the time to stay home with my family and share with them. But when I write "family", I'm also talking about my friends. I'm not sure of what really celebrate us in this holidays, but i like to have holidays in september.
I normally spend this holidays with my father's family, but 5 years ago was the last time ( I'm not sure) that we go to a barbecue in my mother's family, that also, there are just brothers, because her parents died long time ago. So this barbecue was in my uncle's house in Quilicura, that is too far from my house, so we had to wake up too early (like 8:00 a.m) and travel like two hours, but we arrived in his house just to taste the barbecue hahaha. We eat a lot, and I don't know why people eat "empanadas" and "choripan" before the barbecue, and when finally barbecue is ready, you don't feel hungry. Maybe people gives you "empanadas" y "choripan" before because they don't want that you eat much meat hahahaa. But anyway we spent all the afternoon with cousins, uncles, and I like it because I could be with people that I can't never talk. So my brother started to sing "cuecas" and any song that you could imagine (because he's the musician in the family), and people danced until the end of the day.

I keep my teen's and childhood's memories like a treasure, I think that the biggest exile is "grow up". So your memories are the only way to travel (and build) to the past, to your "family's novel".

Jose Cito

Today i want to write about Jose, my friend and one of the best people that I've ever met. He studied in the same school than me, but we started to talk, just when we were in the university. He's also 2 years older than me, but we started to play music together, and one days with a few friends, we make a band. But i'm not writing about he, just for share a music project together , also he's a really conscious person, and when i said conscious i'm talking about "social class", alienation or exclusion. We share the live in the periphery, and he's always doing something to help, to bring a mobilizer's message. Because the time is valuable, and if you want to do something, you need "start today". With these ideas he takes an active part in a "settlers without land movement", where he work with a lot of people in La Pintana, building "popular's kindergarten".

I would like share more time with him, but like i said before, the time is valuable, and for his personality, he's always doing something so it's really hard to meet us in the week. We just meet on the weekend when we play with the band or when we go to some friend's house. I hope that on vacations we recover the conversations, jokes and time.

Woody Allen's Revelation

This year started different in the university, because i must to take five subject that represent the five work areas of psychology. This should show me where i can work and how can i do it. BUT i'm not agree with this subjects, at least, with their planification. For example, i think that i learned the clinic area so much more in Woody Allen films than in the subject "clinic psychology". Also, with this revelation i learned something, there are other spaces of formation where you can learn so much. I'm not (only) thinking in films, i'm talking about seminars, education groups, assitanships or another different ways to learn in the university, or by your own.

So i was very busy the first part of this year, reading about another subjects or disciplines that I'm interested too. I started to read Breton, Tzara, and follow the work of "surrealism and psychoanalysis", and their political project too. Also, I begin to interesting in another disciplines like journalism, and I started to believe in the power of the "image". This was my problem, have doubts about my vocation. But I understood that this doubts will be by my side forever, and I want that. I hope don't loose that interest for another subjects, and never fall into the deeps of "your own discipline".

Fortunately the first half of year ended and this last part of the year, I could choose my subjects by preference.

The City

"...You won’t find a new country, won’t find another shore.
This city will always pursue you.
You’ll walk the same streets, grow old
in the same neighborhoods, turn gray in these same houses.
You’ll always end up in this city. Don’t hope for things elsewhere:
there’s no ship for you, there’s no road.
Now that you’ve wasted your life here, in this small corner,
you’ve destroyed it everywhere in the world."
C. Cavafy - The City

Write about Santiago is write about a particular history, my history, but also is write about everyone's history, everyone who live here. When you live in a big city, you can feel identify with your neighbourhood or your commune, but Santiago is more than just a couple of communes. There are differents worlds here, someones says that Santiago is Chile, maybe is more than Chile, it's Southamerica and a history of a "farewell waltz", about emigrate to another country, for better days.

Santiago is "interaction" and you're in or you're out. Your social and geographic position determine big part of your social life, this city include and exclude. And exclusion is first geographical, if you live in periphery you must to cross the city to find almost everything, and the distances become huge. This idea could seems that it's a bad thing about this city, distances and exclusion, but over this i see the good thing about this city. In every travel across this city, i leave a part of me, of my history. When i walk for these differents streets, neighbourhoods, communes, i feel part of this city, i feel that i'm Santiago.

This city will be a better place when people feels like their own history, childhood and future, is this city, because you can't leave the city, the city is not just the gray walls, it's also the people. The city is in everyone's mind.

A message for a visitor could be know the people, share with them. You can know tourist places, but the real city is in the people, in the hide places, the pheriphery. There is a world hide in the city, that you can find, if you know where look for.

Imagology

Sometimes a neologism is correct to express and idea or concept that you can't find on books. "Imagology" is an example of this, Milan Kundera in Immortality, write about journalist and how they are behind advertising agencies, fashion stylist or anything that you can imagine, but also, they are behind political campaigns, political interviews and they manage prized political information. So imagology respond to this study and analysis of public image's people.

This idea is essential to understand the Wikileaks problem. Julian Assange's case, show us an example of a dangerous man for militar campaigns. If a journalist dig into political and militar business of big countries, he will find a dark and blurry true, but also, he will find a violent repression against him. And how we know, violence is not just physical.

Assange is being acussed for a crime with two faces. One is about treason and espionage, and the other is about sexual agressions. I don't know in details the case, but to speculate, don't wonder if a goverment create a staging to kill the "character", the symbol of a journalist that dig in political and militar information.
If this case born like a political crime, i believe that it will die as political staging. You fight journalism, with journalism, and if you can't find a mistake in the journalist that you want wreck, you created one.
